| "To God our savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen." Jude 1:25 |
|
“For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable”
(Romans 11:29)
“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to
myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the
ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus,
to testify
to the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24).
“But ye shall receive
power,
after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses
unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and
unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
“And with
great power
the apostles gave
witness
to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon
them all” (Acts 4:33).
My Master Jesus
“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He
went out and departed to a solitary place; and there
He prayed” (Mark 1:35). “Immediately He made His disciples get
into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida,
while He sent the multitude away. And when He had sent them away,
He departed to the mountain to pray” (Mark 6:45-46). “Now
when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place.
And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him
from leaving them” (Luke 4:42) “So He Himself often
withdrew into the wilderness and prayed” (Luke 5:16). “Now it
came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to
pray, and continued all night in prayer to God” (Luke 6:12).
“Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and
take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the
mountain by Himself alone” (John 6:15).
“Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent
Me, and to finish His work” ( John 4:34).
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.
The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are
life” (John 6:63).
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life” (John 3:16).
For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life
“Who also made us sufficient as
ministers of the new covenant,
not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the
letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” (2 Corinthians
3:6). “how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more
glorious?” (2 Corinthians 3:8). “so that they brought the sick
out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches,
that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on
some of them. (Acts 5:15). “I have been anointed with
fresh oil” (Psalm 92:10). “You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over. (Psalm 23:5). “Let your garments always be
white, And let your head lack no oil” (Ecclesiastes 9:8). “Because
zeal for Your house has eaten me up” (Psalm 69:9). “Establish
Your word to Your servant, Who is devoted to
fearing You” (Psalm 119:38). “Now you are the body of Christ,
and members individually”(1 Corinthians 12:12-31). “For whom
He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to
the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among
many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also
called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He
justified, these He also glorified” (Romans 8:29-30).
“PAUL, a bondservant (Doulos) of Jesus Christ” (Romans 1:1)
“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). Another translation says “Mimic me, just as I also mimic Christ.” “But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment. For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that”(1 Corinthians 7:6,7). "Nevertheless, BECAUSE OF SEXUAL IMMORALITY, let each man have his own wife, and let each women have her own husband” (1 Corinthians 7:2). “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrew 13:4). “So Paul still remained a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow” (Acts 18:18). “Cut off your hair and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the desolate heights; for the LORD has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath” Jeremiah 7:29 (NKJV) “broken the crown of thy head” Jeremiah 2:16, a better translation would be “Have shaved the crown of your head” (NAS) of “Will lay bear your head” (JPS). Having your head shaved was symbolic of going into slavery, exile, or captivity. “PAUL, a slave (Doulos) of Jesus Christ” (Romans 1:1). It is a symbol of lamentation and humiliation (Isaiah. 3:24, Isaiah. 7:20). Also in the Old Testament cutting of hair was a symbol of shame or mourning ! “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise” (Psalm 51:17). “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:3-4) “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). “Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice” (Psalm 55:17). “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life” (John 12:24-25).
“One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple”
(Psalm 27:4, NKJV). “Blessed is the man You choose, And
cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your
courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of
”(Psalm 65:4).
The Prophet Jeremiah
was known as the weeping prophet who was lonely, rejected
and persecuted.
He never married as an object lesson to Judah. “When Jeremiah was
at the age of
fourteen, the word of the Lord came to him and said, "Before I
formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth
out of the womb I sanctified thee, and
I ordained thee
a prophet unto the nations” ( Jeremiah 1:5). “See, I have this day
set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and
to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build,
and to plant” (Jeremiah 1:10). “But now thus saith the
LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O
Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by
thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I
will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow
thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned;
neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the
LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour” (Isaiah
43:1-3). “Faithful is He that calleth you, Who also will do it” (1
Thessalonians 5:24). “He sent a man before them—Joseph—who
was sold as a slave. They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid
in irons.
Until the time that his word came to pass,
The word of the LORD tested him”
(Psalm 105:17-19).
“Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?” Zechariah 3:2 (KJV)
“Behold, I will make My words in thy mouth fire” (Jeremiah 5:14).
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in
my bones” (Jeremiah 20:9). Is not My word like a fire?”
says the LORD, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in
pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29). “But my horn You have exalted like a
wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil” (Psalm 92:10)
The things which are seen are temporary
“For our light affliction, which is but for a
moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and
eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the
things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.
For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things
which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).
“For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But
My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall
My covenant
of peace be removed,” Says the LORD, who has mercy on you.“ O
you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not
comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful
gems, And lay your
foundations
with sapphires. I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates
of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones” (Isaiah
54:10-12). “And not only that, but we also glory in
tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces
perseverance;
and perseverance,
character;
and character,
hope”
(Romans 5:3-4) As they pass through the Valley of Baca They
make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools. They go from
strength to strength;
Each one
appears before God in Zion” (Psalm 84:6-7). “For if by the one
man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those
who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness
will reign
in life through the One, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17).
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us
all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”
(Romans 8:32).
That Rock was Christ
(1 Corinthians 10:3-4)
“But why do you call Me
‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to
Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is
like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid
the
foundation
on the rock.
And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that
house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock”
Luke (6:46-48) “and
that Rock was Christ”
(1 Corinthians 10:3-4). “But he who heard and did nothing is like
a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against
which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.
And the ruin of that house was great” Luke (6:49). “God
is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be
removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the
sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling“ (Psalm 46:1-3).
“Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp
teeth; You shall thresh the mountains and beat them small,
And make the hills like chaff” (Isaiah 41:15). “Those who are wise
shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who
turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever”
(Daniel 12:3)
Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which
so easily ensnares us, and let us run with
endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto
Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who
for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising
the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of
God” (Hebrews 12:1-3). “Now the
just shall live by faith; But if anyone
draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him” (Hebrews
10:38)
By the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body
If indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you
You are that one’s slaves whom you obey
“He who pleases God shall escape from her”
(Ecclesiastes 7:26).
“I will set him in the safety for which he yearns”
(Psalm 12:5).
“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you
should obey it in its lusts.
And do not present your members as instruments of
unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being
alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of
righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you,
for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin
because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do
you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey,
you are that one’s slaves whom you obey,
whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading
to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were
slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine
to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin,
you became slaves of righteousness” (Romans 6:12-18).
“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers,
sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have
their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which
is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8). “Then He who sat on the
throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me,
“Write, for these words are true and faithful.” And
He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the
Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of
the water of life freely to him who thirsts. (Revelation 21:5-6)
And if Christ is in me, the body is dead because of
sin
Because greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.
“And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with
its passions and desires” (Galatians 5:24 NKJV) “I have been
crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in
me” (Galatians 2:20 NIV) “And if Christ is in you,
the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit
is life because of righteousness” (Romans 8:10 NKJV). “Because
greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1
John 4:4-6).
Meditate on these things
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7)
“Finally, brethren,
whatever things are true, whatever things are
noble, whatever things are just, whatever things
are pure, whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report, if there is
any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate
on these things.
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me,
these do, and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians
4:8-9). “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin
against You” (Psalm 119:11).
“He who has clean hands and a pure heart”
(Psalm 24:4).
Put on the whole armor of God
“Finally,
my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle
against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly
places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may
be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with
truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and
having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be
able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And
take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which
is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all
perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians
6:10-18).
Be steadfast and immovable
“For we shall all stand before
the judgment seat of
Christ”
(Romans 14:10)
“Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write:
‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’”
“Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and
their works follow them.” “After these things I looked, and
behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all
nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues,
standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with
white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out
with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God
who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10).
“Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount
Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand,
having His Father’s name written on their
foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many
waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound
of harpists playing their harps. They sang as it were a new song
before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the
elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and
forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. These are
the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins.
These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These
were redeemed from among men, being
firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. (Revelation 14:1-4)
